Xelera Net is a SmartNIC software which accelerates the IPsec network security function and eliminates the performance bottlenecks of servers performing security tasks on 100GbE networks: Xelera Net offloads IPsec to SmartNICs and delivers a 2x100Gbps IPsec bandwidth. It provides a turn-key SmartNIC solution.
In addition to the Inline Accelerator, Xelera Net includes a software-based IPsec accelerator which scales the workload across CPU cores and does not require additional accelerator hardware.

Xelera starts its story as EXIST-funded project “F-Technlogies” at the Embedded Systems & Applications Group at the Technical University of Darmstadt to enter the hardware-accelerated datacenter market.
The four founders Felix Winterstein, Andreas Duffner, Andrea Suardi and Alexander Lange receive EXIST Research Transfer funding to launch their start-up project under the working title “F-Technologies”. They are hosted by Professor Andreas Koch of the Embedded Systems & Applications Group at the Technical University of Darmstadt. During the one-year long project the team grows their initial idea of entering the hardware-accelerated datacenter market into a minimum viable product. They enter relations with the two largest FPGA-vendors Intel and Xilinx and develop first accelerated machine learning algorithms on their platforms.

Xelera collaborates with Edge Gravity to develop a global edge computing cloud, creates a hardware-accelerated speaker diarization as showcase and is awarded “Digital Start-up of the Year”. Xelera grows to eight full-time employees and engages in a multi-phase project with Ericsson's internal startup Edge Gravity to support developing a global edge computing cloud. As first proof-of-concept Xelera creates a hardware-accelerated speaker diarization allowing different speakers to being distinguished in real-time that is getting presented at XDFs in San José and The Hague, SuperComputing Denver and Embedded World Nürnberg. Xelera is awarded “Digital Start-up of the Year” in Berlin by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
Xilinx becomes a strategic investor and Xelera, now eleven full-time employees strong, supports Deutsche Telekom to develop a cloud gaming solution. The American semiconductor company Xilinx becomes Xelera’s first strategic investor. The partnership is fostered by Xilinx FPGAs becoming the lead platform for Xelera’s hardware acceleration. With now eleven full-time employees Xelera engages with Deutsche Telekom to support their cloud gaming efforts. A hardware accelerated video stream processing solution should minimize the latency between cloud and end-user to create the perfect gaming experience.
